Russian scientific excellence has always been world leading, despite limited resources. Now those resources are getting a boost from T-Platform, a Russian provider of state-of-the-art high performance computing. T-Platform was responsible for building the Lomonosov supercomputer (pictured right) which is the most powerful HPC system in Eastern Europe, delivering 420 TFlops at peak, and 350 TFlops of sustained performance under Linpack. Lomonosov is a currently #13 on the TOP500 list of the world’s most powerful supercomputers (as of June 2010).
T-Platform has gone on to integrate high performance networking and storage, and is also adding innovative cooling.
The company is designing systems based on hot-water cooling, ready for reuse in heating the buildings, with free cooling being part of the agenda. They have also expanded into Western Europe by opening a sales office in Hanover, Germany.
